About the Owner & Head Instructor
MR. CAPPELLA
4th Degree Black Belt
Mr. Charles Cappella is one of Full Circle’s original 20 students training under Master Jackson, as well as one of “The Original Four” to earn their Black Belt at Full Circle before taking over the school 16 years later as Owner & Head Instructor in June, 2022.
His story truly encompasses the meaning of “Full Circle” and the potential we see & nurture in every single student who walks through our doors.
Mr. Cappella is a dedicated martial artist, as well as father with a daughter and two sons who are on their own journey with our fellow students to achieve their black belt and beyond.
Mr. Cappella loves to spend time with his family, surf, skateboard, snowboard, fish & play with his dog on his off-time from the dojang.
About the founder
Our taekwondo school was founded in 2006 by Mr. Charles Jackson, a 6th Degree Black Belt and Martial Arts Instructor.
Full Circle Dojang's philosophy is built on the concept that every student has the ability to achieve greatness. To that end, we encourage “greatness” inside the studio and out. Acts of Kindness and Respect for self and others is stressed as essential in all aspects of life.
Mr. J encouraged students to reach for their goals and never give up as they travel through their own personal journey— after all, achieving day-to-day goals and overcoming periodic challenges helps us reach our destinations— in both Martial Arts and in life. This is what Mr. J fostered & how Mr. Cappella came to take over, really giving power & meaning to the name Full Circle Dojang, continuing the legacy.
What Makes Us Different From Other Studios
Instructor Dedication
Head Instructor Charles Cappella personally works with every student. Many other Full Circle instructors have earned their Black Belts training here and are now helping others on their journey. All of our instructors put their hearts and souls into their work at the Dojang.
We Practice What We Preach
Instructors, including Mr. Cappella, continue to train and challenge themselves while encouraging students to do the same. We celebrate the victories of our instructors and students and strive to be the best we can be.
We Build Character
Acts of kindness, respect and giving back are required for advancement. Students are always encouraged to respect, thank and give back to their families, friends and communities.
Black Belts are Earned Not Bought
The true value of hard work serves us in all areas of life. Earning a Black Belt isn’t easy, but the hard work involved is worth the effort.
We Lead By Influence
True respect for authority comes when those in charge lead by example. We earn the respect of our students by giving respect in return.
Our philosophy here at Full Circle Dojang is built on the concept that everyone has the ability to achieve greatness. Our Instructors encourage students to reach for goals, and to never give up as they travel through their own personal journey. Martial Arts is more than just a sport—it is a way of life that encourages both physical and mental development.
We firmly believe that the journey to achieve a goal is just as important as the moment the goal is achieved. The hard work and dedication it takes to advance in Martial Arts or any other pursuit in life is a journey that builds character, self-respect and confidence. With effort, we can all achieve success.
Kindness Counts
We strive to teach more than blocks and kicks at our school. With that in mind, our students are encouraged to help their families and their communities by performing and documenting Acts of Kindness every 3 months as part of their preparation for advancing in rank.
We’re extremely proud that as a whole, the school performs roughly 25,000 Acts of Kindness every year.
Student Oath
Together we speak, repeat and memorize the student oath below at the end of most classes.
I intend to develop myself in a positive manner and avoid anything that would reduce my mental growth or physical health.
I intend to develop self-discipline in order to bring out the best in myself and others.
I intend to use what I learn in class constructively and defensively, to help myself and others, and never be abusive or offensive.
Tenets of Taekwondo
These tenets apply to all areas of life. We practice & preach these each and every class, on and off the mat.
